Michael McKerley, CPA
Michael is a Partner at Puryear & Noonan CPAs, bringing more than three decades of experience in tax, audit, and advisory services. A native Nashvillian, Michael began his career in 1986 after earning both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Accounting from the University of Tennessee. He started at Ernst & Young in Nashville, working in the Audit Department with nonprofits and small businesses, before spending nearly a decade at a local CPA firm helping individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits with their tax and audit needs.
In 1999, Michael co-founded McKerley & Noonan with the vision of creating a firm that put people first—prioritizing employees, fostering a family-like culture, and ensuring that clients and team members alike could succeed without sacrificing balance. That vision continues today at Puryear & Noonan, where Michael’s expertise in guiding entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits has helped countless clients grow and thrive.
Known for his quiet leadership and mischievous sense of humor, Michael is deeply respected by both clients and colleagues. He thrives on building lasting friendships through his work and enjoys seeing both his team and his clients succeed.
Outside the office, Michael is an avid outdoorsman. His favorite way to recharge is in a deer stand or duck pit at sunrise on his farm in Squeeze Bottom, Tennessee. A proud Tennessee Vols fan, he follows UT football recruiting year-round. Michael and his wife, Susan, have four grown children, and currently 5 grandchildren, and enjoy spending time with family.
