Tax Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive tax services in full compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Identify and mitigate tax risks while managing tax provision and compliance processes.
  • Lead and coordinate tax audits, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to regulations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recent experience in an accounting firm, managing multiple tax engagements and projects. Additional Industry experience is a plus.
  • Proven expertise as a Tax Manager with in-depth knowledge of tax accounting, compliance, and tax returns.
  • Proficiency in tax software and MS Office.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Experience with complex tax compliance and planning; estate tax experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional client service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Leadership and staff management skills with a focus on performance and development.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or MA in Taxation.
  • CPA License or EA required.

Tax Senior

Staff Auditor

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Auditor to join our growing CPA firm. In this role, you will assist in performing audits for a diverse client base across various industries. You’ll work closely with senior auditors and managers to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing audit engagements for non-profit and for-profit clients.
  • Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures on financial statement accounts.
  • Document audit procedures and findings in accordance with firm and professional standards.
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to senior team members.
  • Prepare workpapers and assist in drafting financial statements and audit reports.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Stay current on accounting and auditing standards (GAAP, GAAS).
  • Participate in continuing professional education and firm training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 1–2 years of public accounting or audit experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and auditing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, CaseWare, or similar).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • CPA candidate or intent to pursue CPA certification preferred.

Experienced Bookkeper

Puryear & Noonan, CPAs is one of the top public accounting firms in the Nashville area and we are looking for a highly experienced bookkeeper to join our team! We strive to be the best CPA firm in Middle Tennessee by hiring top talent and providing outstanding service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and accurately update the books for multiple clients on a regular basis, ensuring transactions are properly categorized and reconciled.
  • Manage client requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing excellent customer service and communication.
  • Oversee and/or process client payrolls, including related tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements prior to submission to clients or firm partners, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Supervise and complete special projects, clean-up work, or transitions as assigned, delegating tasks when appropriate and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Take ownership of assigned client accounts, proactively managing the client relationship and anticipating needs or concerns before they arise.
  • Coordinate with tax and advisory team members to support client goals and reporting requirements.
  • Identify process improvements, implement efficiencies, and maintain consistency in workflows and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Bookkeeping Experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • Must know debits and credits
  • Must be able to analyze and spot errors on a Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statement
  • Knowledge of coding daily transactions for small businesses
  • Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Experience managing multiple client accounts and a demonstrated history of proven client management
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting, but must be able to do a manual set of books
  • Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, CaseWare, or similar).
