Susan Keffer, CPA
Susan Keffer is a CPA in Nashville, a Partner in the Tax Department at Puryear & Noonan CPAs and a trusted advisor with more than 40 years of experience in public accounting. A native Nashvillian, she earned her accounting degree from Belmont University after studies at Regis University in Denver and Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She began her career as a Revenue Agent with the IRS, gaining invaluable insight and building strong relationships with agency professionals—connections that continue to inform her ability to navigate complex client tax issues today.
Over her career, Susan has worn many leadership hats. At McKerley & Noonan, she served for a decade as both Managing Partner and Head of the Tax Department, overseeing everything from A to Z within the firm. Following the merger that created Puryear & Noonan CPAs, she continued her leadership journey as Co-Managing Partner for two years, guiding the combined firm with vision and dedication. For many years, she also led the tax team as Partner in Charge of Tax, setting the tone for technical excellence and client service.
Susan recently stepped down from these leadership roles to enjoy a more flexible schedule, allowing her to spend more time traveling and being with her children and grandchildren. She remains a pillar of knowledge at P&N, with deep expertise in serving nonprofit boards, small businesses, individuals, trusts, and international clients. She was instrumental in expanding the firm’s international practice, connecting clients and colleagues to opportunities in the global economy.
Susan’s quiet leadership, unmatched experience, and commitment to mentoring younger professionals continue to shape both the team and the clients she serves.
Outside of work, Susan is an active athlete and outdoor enthusiast. Alongside her partner, Bill, and their two grown children, she has hiked Machu Picchu, taken flying lessons near Alaska’s Denali National Park, and even served as camp cook on a Montana horse-packing adventure. Yoga, running, and meditation help her balance her professional expertise with her love of adventure and family.
