Justin is the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, where he combines his passion for client service with his talent as a leader and strategic visionary. He splits his time between guiding the long-term direction of the firm and working closely with clients. Known for his ability to think ahead and plan for the future, Justin is actively involved in several business leadership groups and is dedicated to continuous personal growth—always striving to be the best leader he can be.

Originally from Orlando, Justin earned his accounting degree from the University of Central Florida. He and his wife fell in love with Tennessee in 2009 while visiting family for a wedding, and by 2011 they had relocated to Franklin.

Justin’s path to accounting was anything but traditional. His years of experience as a photographer, operations manager, graphic designer, and in the construction trades gave him firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities small businesses face. This diverse background now makes him an invaluable resource to both our firm and our clients.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys exploring Tennessee’s hiking trails with his wife and three children. He also finds time to pursue his passions for photography and carpentry whenever he can.

As Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Puryear & Noonan CPAs, Jami plays a key leadership role in guiding the firm while also overseeing our attest services practice. With a passion for auditing, he is committed to delivering more than just an opinion on financial statements—he provides clients with valuable “best practice” recommendations in areas such as internal controls, systems, management, and overall business operations. Jami especially enjoys time spent on-site with clients, where he can build relationships not only with leadership but also with their teams.

Originally from Shelbyville, Tennessee, Jami earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University in 1989 and became a CPA the following year. He remains closely connected to his alma mater as a Board Member of MTSU’s Department of Accounting Advisory Board and is also an active member of the AICPA, TSCPA, and Belle Aire Baptist Church.

Now living in Murfreesboro with his wife, Jami is the proud father of three sons. In his free time, he enjoys reading, jogging, attending Tennessee Titans football games, and spending time with his family.

As Partner and Chief People Officer at Puryear & Noonan CPAs, Stephanie leads with empathy, joy, and a deep commitment to both our clients and our team. She has a true passion for loving people well—whether that’s guiding clients toward their goals or supporting and encouraging colleagues in the office. Known for her gift of empathy and the positivity she brings to every interaction, Stephanie plays a key role in shaping our culture and strengthening relationships across the firm.

Since joining William Puryear & Co. in 1996, Stephanie has built an impressive career in our Audit and Accounting Services Departments. She also provides expertise in special consulting engagements and merger and acquisition transactions, always with a focus on helping clients succeed.

Stephanie earned her accounting degree from Western Kentucky University and a Master’s in Accounting from The Massey School at Belmont University. She and her husband, Jason, live in Hendersonville with their son, Aaron. Outside of work, she enjoys time at the lake, being outdoors, organizing anything she can get her hands on, and making memories with family and friends.

Sean is the Partner in Charge of our Tax Department, where he leads the team with a focus on delivering exceptional service and strategic guidance. He works extensively with high-net-worth individuals, growing businesses, and trusts, helping clients navigate complex tax matters while keeping their long-term goals in mind.

With a background that includes years of audit and consulting experience, Sean brings a big-picture perspective to every engagement—ensuring his clients receive both technical expertise and thoughtful, forward-looking advice.

A Nashville native, Sean earned his accounting degree from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Accountancy from Belmont University. He is an active member of The Church at Avenue South, where he serves as a deacon. Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and their two small children, volunteering with his church community, and working on improving his golf game.

Michael started his accounting career in 1986 after graduating from the University of Tennessee with his Undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Accounting. He started with Ernst & Young in Nashville, Tennessee working in the Audit Department gaining experience with non-profit organizations and small businesses. He then worked for 9 years with a local Nashville CPA firm helping individuals, small businesses, and non-profit organizations with their tax and audit needs. Over the years Michael helped numerous individuals take the entrepreneurial step of starting their own business, and in 1999 he took that same step and partnered with Spike Noonan to start their own firm, McKerley & Noonan.

Michael is a native Nashvillian and is married to Susan. They have four grown children. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing on his farm in Squeeze Bottom, Tennessee (yes, it is a real place).

Susan is a Partner in our Tax Department. A native Nashvillian, Susan received her accounting degree from Belmont University after study at Denver’s Regis University and Vanderbilt, back home in Nashville. She began her career as Revenue Agent with the IRS, and her experience and continuing relationships with agency professionals have provided a unique knowledge base for addressing complex client tax issues. In addition to tax expertise, Susan has more than thirty years’ public accounting experience working with nonprofit boards, small businesses, individuals, and trusts. She was CFO of a real estate development company and has acted as interim CFO for numerous small and medium-sized businesses.

Dedicated to expanding the range of P&N services, Susan has been central to the development of the firm’s international practice, participating in a wide range of conferences and organizations connecting colleagues and clients with the opportunities extended by a global economy.

Susan is an active athlete with a strong passion for the outdoors. With her partner Bill and two grown children she has hiked Machu Pichu, taken flying lessons near Alaska’s Denali National Park, and worked as camp cook on a Montana horse packing camp adventure. Yoga, running and meditation keep the challenges of deadline-driven responsibilities at bay.

Ron is a Partner Emeritus in our Tax Department. He works primarily with high net worth individuals and their businesses. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Ron is married to his high school sweetheart and they have two daughters.

Ron has been with the firm since January 1982 and became a Partner in 1989. Outside the office Ron enjoys riding his motorcycle and traveling with his family and friends.

Jeff has been part of the Nashville Community since 1984. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1979, he began his professional career with the Big 8 public accounting firm Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Houston, Texas. In 1984 he moved to Nashville and worked as a Controller for a local Oil & Gas Production Company. He also worked with a national home health agency and was the CFO of a small public company. In 1987 he joined the firm of William Puryear & Co. as a partner. The firm has subsequently become Puryear & Noonan, CPAs. Jeff works and specializes in audits and attest functions and mergers and acquisitions. He has diverse industry experience, including not-for-profit, healthcare, service, manufacturing, software leasing and development, oil and gas and HUD facilities.

Jeff is married to Dee and they have four children and two grandchildren. He likes spending time at the lake, boating and entertaining, biking, hiking and fitness training. He was involved in coaching baseball, football and basketball for over twenty years from youth to the high school level.

Kerri brings over 30 years of experience in public accounting and industry to the role of Director of Operations. Originally from the Middle Tennessee and Kentucky area, she settled in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1991 after earning a degree in accounting and business administration from Middle Tennessee State University. Kerri is dedicated to streamlining processes and fostering organizational excellence. Outside work, she enjoys reading and traveling with her friends and family.

Sherry is a member of our Tax Department and has 20+ years’ experience in many areas of taxation including corporations, partnerships, and high net worth individuals. She began her career at PHHW, PLC after graduating from Middle Tennessee State University. Sherry fills her off time traveling with her kids to their many hockey and soccer games.

Michelle is a Senior Tax Manager. Originally from Springfield, MO, Michelle received her accounting degree from Missouri State University. Michelle and her family relocated to Tennessee in 1997 and she began her career in public accounting. Prior to relocating Michelle was in the Tax Department of a company that manufactured exercise equipment. In her off time, Michelle enjoys traveling, fishing and spending time with her family.

Catherine is a Senior Manager in the Audit Department with over thirty years’ experience in a variety of fields with a particular focus on non-profit organizations. A native of Nashville, Catherine attended Harpeth Hall School and Rhodes College, where she received her B.A. in Business Administration and met her husband, David. They live in Nashville and have two children. They love spending time in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee located on the Cumberland Plateau. Catherine enjoys hiking, reading and Pilates as well as traveling and seeking out great food.

Troy is a Senior Manager in the Tax Department where he spends most of his time consulting with clients on tax planning and preparation of business and individual returns. He enjoys being part of his client’s team as an objective advisor. Originally from Canton, Ohio, Troy received his accounting degree from Auburn University. He moved to Nashville in 1997 and then permanently in 2001.

Troy’s path to accounting started with a Big Four firm then with a couple local firms before landing at the former PHHW in December of 2006. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his three children and coaching their teams or watching their various activities as well as playing golf and tennis. He serves on several not-for-profit boards and enjoys giving back to the community.

Caleb Gerdom is a Manager in the Tax Department at Puryear & Noonan CPAs, where he works with individuals and businesses on tax planning and compliance. He is especially energized by solving complex challenges and ensuring every detail comes out correct.

Before entering public accounting, Caleb spent several years teaching mathematics, which gave him a strong foundation in problem-solving and communication. He went on to earn his Master of Accounting from Lipscomb University and gained valuable experience at a regional accounting firm before joining Puryear & Noonan to focus on serving clients with a local, personalized approach—while still keeping his hand in multi-state returns.

Caleb takes pride in becoming a manager and building strong relationships with his team, something he has worked hard to develop and values deeply. He is also passionate about mentoring interns and staff, investing the time needed to make them both confident and competent in their work.

Originally from Daphne, Alabama and Port Huron, Michigan, Caleb has made Nashville his home. Outside of work, he enjoys lifting weights, practicing guitar and violin, and serving his church community through bookkeeping and audio tech work.

Jessica is an experienced auditor with industry expertise in not-for-profits, contractors, hospitality, private equity groups and employee benefit plans. She comes to Puryear & Noonan, CPAs from LBMC, one of the largest professional service solutions providers based in Tennessee, where she served as Audit Manager. During her time at LBMC, Jessica was instrumental in helping establish the construction sector for the Nashville based office as well as leading training and education for its members.

Jessica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and earned her Master of Accountancy from Middle Tennessee State University. She lives in Murfreesboro, TN with her husband, Scott, and two sons, Sev and Asa. In her free time, Jessica enjoys cheering on her beloved Nashville Soccer Club, attending concerts, and catching up on the latest TV drama.

Ashley is a Manager in our Tax Department. She spends the majority of her time preparing and reviewing individual and business income tax returns. She also has experience working with small businesses on their bookkeeping needs. Ashley spent her early childhood in Orlando, before relocating to Brentwood, TN. Ashley received an accounting degree from Belmont University. She met her husband while attending Belmont and together they have a young daughter. She currently divides her time between the office and being home with her daughter. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys hot yoga, reading, and hiking at Radnor Lake and Percy Warner Park.

Nessa is a Senior Manager in the Audit Department. Prior to joining Puryear & Noonan in 2019, she worked in public accounting in Chicago where she was primarily involved in the real estate and non-profit fields. Nessa came from Beijing, China where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management. She went to Loyola University Chicago and attained a Master’s Degree in Accountancy in 2014. Nessa moved to Nashville in 2019. She enjoys hiking, looking for and observing wildlife. She also loves reading historical novels and rock climbing.

After spending twenty years in nearly every capacity of a small family business in Nashville, Kels decided that the time had come to follow through with a major life pivot. He and his father sold the business and Kels went back to school. He attended Belmont University’s Massey Graduate School of Business and attained a Master of Accountancy degree in 2017. He followed that up with a couple of years of GAAP financial accounting with a large publicly-traded healthcare company in Nashville and earned his CPA license. With his move to Puryear & Noonan, CPAs in 2020, Kels is excited to return to his roots and be able to help small businesses and the people who run them.

In his off-time, Kels is an avid tennis player, loves just about any time spent outdoors, and enjoys traveling with his wife, Jamie.

Kimberly is a Senior Manager in our Tax Department. She has prior experience both as a controller at a car dealership and as pastor of two congregations. She received a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as degrees in business management and divinity from other institutions.

Kimberly was born in Orlando and has lived primarily in Florida and Georgia. In 2015, she and her family settled in Middle Tennessee for its beautiful landscape and four seasons. She is married to her best friend and has three children, as well as three grandchildren. When not at the office, Kimberly is happiest spending time with her family, reading, writing, and serving as a lay preacher.

Kimberly’s work as an accountant is shaped by her deepest value that people matter most, and she aspires to see the humanity in each of her clients. Her goal is to provide quality services that make tax compliance less stressful and less painful.

Bethany is a Certified Public Accountant and a Tax Manager with Puryear and Noonan, CPAs. She prepares tax returns for corporations, partnerships, nonprofits and individuals. Originally from Northwest Alabama, Bethany received her accounting degree from Auburn University. In her off time, she enjoys brunches, working out at her local Pure Barre studio, and listening to true crime podcasts.

Marilyn is a manager in our Tax Department who works with non-profit organizations, for-profit businesses and individuals on their tax reporting. She especially enjoys working with non-profit organizations specializing in non-profit reporting compliance with the IRS. She has completed the Not-For-Profit Certificate II with the AICPA and continues to learn the nuances for non-profit reporting through continuing education.

Marilyn has worked in public accounting for 25 years and earned the Enrolled Agent designation with the IRS in 2013. In 2017, Marilyn started working remotely from the Asheville, NC area so that she could help her mother recover after a severe injury. Loving the mountains and the artsy feel of Asheville, she and her husband relocated there in 2018 where she continues to work remotely while caregiving for her parents. Marilyn also spends her time painting, hiking and volunteering with a non-profit Arts League in the area. You can see examples of her art work on her website marilynplaceart.com.

Barry is the Director of our Accounting Services Department where he helps supervise and manage the daily operations of the department. Originally from Minnesota, Barry moved to the Nashville area in 2009 with his wife and has now settled in Thompsons Station, TN with their two young daughters.

Barry has an extensive background in banking as well as accounting. Joining the Puryear & Noonan firm in July of 2019, he brought with him several years of management, client relations, and business operations experience making him a great fit for helping lead our Accounting Services Department. In his spare time you will find him spending time with his family, at his family’s lake house, or serving at his church.

Patrick is a Manager in our Audit/Attest Department where he spends most of his time on audits of for profit and non-profit organizations and pension plans. Originally from Nashville, Patrick received his accounting degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Patrick has spent many years working in small businesses having spent time as a kitchen manager and as a project manager in the construction trade. This experience makes him a valuable resource to our firm and our clients. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his son in outdoor sports like whitewater kayaking and skiing and going to Titans and Predator games. He also still enjoys cooking and carpentry and fits them in whenever he can.

Olga joined the firm as a Staff Accountant in 2016 and specializes in auditing of non-profit organizations. She enjoys serving and assisting clients by accessing accuracy of their financial statements and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. She graduated from the National Aviation University, located in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2009 with a B.A. in Arts and Mississippi State University in 2016 with B.A. in Accounting.

Olga and her family enjoy spending time together, serving at their church, exploring Tennessee, and gardening. Her dream is to grow a wildflower patch filled with native plants.

Courtney Isabell serves as an Account Manager in our Accounting Department, collaborating directly with our Senior Accountants. She plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance, fostering strong client relationships, and assisting with daily tasks.

Originally from Lansing, Courtney earned her Master’s Degree in Accounting from WGU while working at our firm. Having spent most of her life in Tennessee, she currently resides in Columbia, TN. With five years at our firm, Courtney has experience as both a Staff and Senior Accountant, along with a successful background as a loan officer.

Dedicated to delivering top-notch service, Courtney enjoys working with people and ensuring their needs are met. In her personal time, she loves spending time with her family and staying active at the gym.

Olivia is a Manager in our Tax Department specializing in tax preparation for partnerships, corporations, individuals and trusts. Before joining Puryear and Noonan in 2019, she gained two years of public accounting experience working for a local firm in Chattanooga, TN. Additionally, Olivia obtained both her Bachelor’s and Masters of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Olivia began working remotely in August 2021 when she relocated from Franklin, TN to Talking Rock, GA. In her free time, Olivia enjoys working out, couponing and spending time with friends and family. When possible, Olivia likes to visit her hometown of Fayetteville, TN.

Chris is a Nashville native who graduated from Lipscomb with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Chris has worked with local CPA firms in their Tax and Accounting Departments, working with clients in several industries to provide monthly bookkeeping services including sales tax returns, payroll taxes, liquor taxes and licenses, business taxes as well as preparing tax returns for individual and Corporate entities. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his 3 dogs and doing anything sports related.
