Puryear & Noonan is a public accounting firm that specializes in serving nonprofits, individuals and businesses with their tax, audit, compliance, bookkeeping, consulting and exit strategy needs.
Our Mission: To create great experiences for our clients and team.
In 1962, William Puryear began offering public accounting services in Downtown Nashville with the simple goal of helping clients. Over the next several decades he brought on several partners as the firm grew and the firm became known as Puryear, Hamilton, Hausman & Wood. In 1999, Michael McKerley & Spike Noonan founded McKerley & Noonan with the same philosophy as William Puryear – helping clients and creating a family friendly work environment. Over the next 18 years, McKerley & Noonan grew during which Susan Keffer and Justin Schellenberg came on as partners.
The two firms built a strong professional relationship, and on January 1, 2019, they merged to form Puryear & Noonan. Following the merger, Justin Schellenberg stepped in to lead the firm, providing clear guidance, long-term vision, and strategic planning to ensure continued growth and stability for our clients and employees. The “helping others” philosophy remains at the heart of everything we do today.
